The Carolina Panthers announced this morning that quarterback Cam Newton is the team’s nominee for the 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year award. The award is intended to recognize excellence both on and off the football field, and while an injury kept him mostly on the sidelines at gametime, no one could possibly keep QB1 from having his usual far reaching impact in the Charlotte and Atlanta communities.
This award nomination has been a long time coming for the Panthers prominent signal-caller, only because he has had to wait his turn behind other great men on the roster, like Greg Olsen, and former winner Thomas Davis.
