The NFL’s highest-scoring offense was no match for the league’s top defense Sunday in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium.
The Carolina Panthers’ offense, which had feasted on opposing defenses all season, was held in check by the Broncos’ swarming, physical defense in a 24-10 victory.
Led by linebacker Von Miller, the Broncos limited the Panthers to 309 total yards and forced four turnovers. More to the point, they sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton six times – including one that led the game’s opening touchdown – and pressured him on numerous other occasions.
