CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It wasn’t long ago that the cornerback position for the Carolina Panthers appeared secure for years to come, with 2016 draft picks James Bradberry and Daryl Worley becoming starters as rookies.
Coach Ron Rivera actually did research to determine the last team to win the Super Bowl with two rookie corners (the 1981 San Francisco 49ers, for those that are wondering). He was that confident the Panthers could do the same.
Then Worley was traded to Philadelphia for wide receiver Torrey Smith before 2018 free agency began.
