The Carolina Panthers have selected Jeremy Chinn from Southern Illinois with the No. 64 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. They traded No. 69 and 148 to get there.
Jeremy Chinn played four seasons at Southern Illinois, lining up all over the place in the defensive backfield. He logged 13 interceptions and 31 passes defenses in that span. As a second round pick, there will be obvious edges to his game that need to be roughed out, but the theme behind Matt Rhule and Marty Hurney’s draft remains; multiplicity and versatility.
Chinn joins returning starting safety Tre Boston and free agent signing Juston Burris, another defensive back who provides some versatility at the position.
