The main theme of the Panthers 2018 draft was adding an injection of speed at every level. Three of their first four picks confirmed those sentiments. Marty Hurney traded up from the 5th round into the late 4th to select Ole Miss edge rusher Marquis Haynes.
While Haynes’ overall athletic profile is average (55.4 percentile SPARQ) partially due to his tweener size, his 40 and 3 cone were above average.
RR says Haynes “compares very favorably” to Mario Addison. They could use Haynes in their ‘joker’ package where they don’t necessarily need two prototypical DEs.
