The Carolina Panthers hold the No. 30 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft after coming up short in the Super Bowl last year. With only a few notable needs, the Panthers are looking to the draft to address them. Carolina is hoping to fix the weaknesses that prevented the team from winning Super Bowl 50 and ensure the Panthers make a return trip to the postseason next year. Here are the latest Panthers rumors that you need to know:
Panthers Looking At Braxton Miller In Round One?
The Panthers need more weapons for Cam Newton and could spend an early draft pick on the wide receiver position. According to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, the Panthers are one of four teams that are interested in taking Ohio State WR Braxton Miller in Round One. The other teams are the Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings. Miller has played wide receiver for just one season, but showed promise as a dynamic weapon. He looked great in the Senior Bowl, although the late first round appears to be his draft ceiling.
Carolina Interested In Derrick Henry?
The Alabama running back is clearly the No. 2 back in the draft, behind Ohio State' Ezekiel Elliott. While the Panthers have Jonathan Stewart, they could be in the market for a long-term replacement since Stewart is 29 and could have only a year or two left with the team. The Panthers don't have a true replacement on the roster, which helps explain why Henry told NFL.com he met with the Panthers. Carolina likely wouldn't be able to grab Henry at the end of the second round, meaning they'd need to take him in the first round or trade back in the draft.
Panthers Met With S Vonn Bell
The Panthers could be in the market for a safety in the 2016 draft, if their recent meeting is any indication.
I'm told #OhioState safety Vonn Bell has (or has had) meetings, workouts and/or visits with the #Jets, #Patriots, #Panthers and #Giants.

Kurt Coleman is locked in at one safety spot, and Tre Boston showed enough promise that he could take over as the other. However, the Panthers could pull the trigger on Bell if he falls to them at the end of Round 2. Bell has talent and is one of the top safeties in this year's draft class. The Panthers a bit thin at safety, and could add a player at some point during the draft.
