Benjamin was carted off the practice field. Head coach Ron Rivera said the injury was an MCL sprain and that Benjamin would have an MRI.
The second-year WR was Cam Newton's top target last season and was expected to be again this year. If Benjamin misses an extended period of time, the Panthers' top wide outs are former undrafted free agent Corey Brown, rookie Devin Funchess and veterans Jerricho Cotchery and Ted Ginn.
