Gerald McCoy has his new NFL team. McCoy is signing with the Carolina Panthers, per Adam Schefter.
McCoy took visits with the Panthers, the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens before picking Carolina. He was negotiating with all 3 teams. It's a 1-year deal worth up to $10.25 million, but a cap hit that will come in at. The deal includes a $4 million signing bonus.
Here's the complete contract breakdown for McCoy: $4 million signing, $3 million base salary, $500k camp roster bonus, $500K in 45-man per game bonus. In additional incentives, he must hit 6.5 sacks for $500k, 8 sacks for $1.5 million, 250k for the Pro Bowl, $250k for playoffs. The additional incentives do not count against the Panthers' cap hit this year.
McCoy joins a defensive tackle group that features Kawaan Short, Dontari Poe and Vernon Butler. He'll now get to play against his old team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, twice a season.
