What was once a happy marriage between the Carolina Hurricanes and their 2011 1st round pick Ryan Murphy has become an awful honeymoon. Unfortunately for the Canes, Murphy hasn’t panned out at all. The once renowned offensively skilled defenseman has become a detriment all over the ice for the Hurricanes.
The former highly touted prospect has failed to live up to the NHL hype. Despite some success in the American Hockey League, Murphy has never been able to translate his skills to the NHL. On the defensive side, Murphy simply cannot process the game as quickly as need be.
