After struggling to get the puck on Canadiens backup goalie Al Montoya through 40 minutes, the Hurricanes finally broke through thanks to fancy footwork from Jeff Skinner out front.
Ron Hainsey let the shot go from the point, and Skinner made thing happen in the slot. The goal came just two shifts after head coach Bill Peters decided to put Skinner alongside Jordan Staal and Sebastian Aho.
It’s Skinner’s team-leading seventh goal of the season. Aho also got his team-leading eighth assist of the season on the goal.
