Coming off an OT victory against the division rival, Pittsburgh Penguins, the Carolina Hurricanes have the day off. The team is currently in the midst of a six-game road trip.
That did not stop the general manager, Don Waddell, from working to improve the team and organizational depth.
The old saying is “defense wins championships”.
Well, Waddell added some depth to the defense for the AHL affiliate, Chicago Wolves, and the NHL team with the acquisition of Zachary Hayes from the Las Vegas Golden Knights for future considerations.
With the Hurricane’s cap situation being tight, Waddell does not have much flexibility at the NHL level for roster moves, but this will shore up the defense in Chicago and beyond.
