- Joakim Nordstrom has been recalled by the Hurricanes after spending the weekend in Charlotte on a conditioning assignment. Nordstrom played in three games for the Canes before suffering a lower body injury that kept him out for the next eleven. Thursday the Canes assigned him to Charlotte, where he played in two games and scored a goal in a 3-2 Checkers win against the Manitoba Moose on Sunday. [CH.com]
- Speaking of Charlotte, after a ten-game road trip and a 6-4-0 record to start their season, the Checkers finally returned to the Queen City to christen their new home, Bojangles Coliseum.
