The losing streak for the Carolina Hurricanes grew to three games Friday night, as the New York Rangers held off a Canes’ comeback effort in Madison Square Garden to win 5-3.
The Hurricanes cut a 4-1 New York lead to 4-3 early in the third period, but couldn’t finish off the effort as Ryan Strome put the game away with the Rangers’ fifth goal with a little over six minutes left to play.
Lucas Wallmark led the way for the Hurricanes, finishing the night with a goal and an assist to extend his career-high point streak to five games.
