It was the same story on a different day for the Hurricanes in New York City, as they managed to one-up the outcome of Tuesday night’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers.
The Rangers opened the scoring early in the first on a goal by Derek Stepan that was not ruled as a goal on the ice at first, but a review showed the puck apparently inconclusively fully beyond the goal line. The Canes had one power play in the first that was one of the more listless ones they’ve had this season, so the period ended with a score of 1-0 despite a shot count of 15-3 in favor of Carolina.
