The Carolina Hurricanes special teams failed again as they lost to the New York Rangers, 4-3 in the second overtime on Tuesday night at the MSG.
Former Hurricane Vincent Trocheck scored during a Ranger powerplay to win the game for the Rangers. The Canes had a powerplay chance prior to that, but failed to take advantage.
Jake Guentzel scored two goals and Dmitry Orlov added another as the Hurricanes nearly pulled off the ideal bounce back game after a close loss in Game 1.
The night began with intrigue as Max Comtois drew into the lineup for Evgeny Kuznetsov, but the game itself didn’t bring the same heat that Sunday night’s contest did right away.
