The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Tuesday that Patrick Dwyer has been hired to be an assistant on Ryan Warsofsky’s coaching staff with the Charlotte Checkers.
During his playing career, Dwyer played in 416 NHL games across seven seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes. He played in the Hurricanes organization from 2006 through 2015 before playing a season in Sweden, returning to play one season for the AHL Checkers in 2016-17 (wherein he spent time as the team’s captain), and then finishing his playing career after two more seasons in Europe.
Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell issued the following statement with the news release:
