The Checkers banner raising ceremony was spoiled last Friday as the team dropped a 4-2 decision during their home opener to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Eetu Luostarinen started the scoring with a goal just five minutes in but Bridgeport would tie the game at one apiece heading into the first intermission. Bridgeport’s Sebastian Aho (no, not that one) scored the lone second period marker.
Gustav Forsling scored his first of the season to tie the game at two in the third period but Bridgeport would quickly retaliate less than a minute later in what would be the eventual game-winning goal.
