Today, the Hurricanes said Jordan Staal is more than a hockey captain. He’s also an all-around leader.
Staal was selected by his teammates to represent the Hurricanes in King Clancy Memorial Trophy voting for the 2016-2017 season. The award recognizes players who are the best example of leadership on and off the ice, and give back to their communities through humanitarian efforts.
This season, Staal has visited and hosted dozens of families from Triangle-area hospitals, including UNC Children’s Hospital and Duke Children’s Hospital.
His work with local hospitals mirrors the work of the only Hurricanes to win the King Clancy Memorial Trophy: GM Ron Francis.
