The Carolina Hurricanes came out in Winnipeg just like they wanted and were dominating play throughout most of the first period but they could not dent the scoreboard.
The Jets were able to score on their second shot of the game to take the lead late in the first and they would never trail as they beat the Hurricanes, 2-1 on Monday night at the Canada Life Centre.
The Canes outshot the Jets 15 - 3 in the opening period and outshot them in every period afterward, but they were stymied by backup goalie Laurent Brossoit who picked up his third win of the season.
