Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin has won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for the second time.
The National Hockey League awards the Lady Byng Trophy to the “player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”
This is Slavin’s second award in four years. He becomes just the second defenseman to win the trophy more than once. The Lady Byng Trophy was first awarded during the 1924–25 NHL season.
The top pair defenseman took just four minor penalties during 81 regular season games.
