Hurricanes vs Senators Recap: Despite Quick Start, Canes Fall 2-1 in OT

The Carolina Hurricanes recorded a point in the standings but lost 2-1 in overtime to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. Craig Anderson stopped 32 of 33 shots in the win. The Hurricanes fall to 2-4-3 on the season and drop the first of three games against the Senators this season.

The Hurricanes had a strong start to the game, quickly outshooting Ottawa and applying a lot of pressure within the offensive zone in the first period, at one point having a 16-5 advantage in shots. A lot of jabs were thrown within the first period with Phil Di Giuseppe dropping the gloves against Matt Puempel and Dion Phaneuf and Jordan Staal also exchanging blows.
