The Carolina Hurricanes (3-4-3) finally won a game in overtime. Behind a stellar performance from Cam Ward and a Jaccob Slavin third round winner in the skills contest, the Canes have officially broken the OT curse plaguing the team by defeating the Nashville Predators (3-5-3) Saturday night by a 3-2 score.
James Neal got Nashville on the board first with a breakaway goal, his second of the season, at 9:44 in the first period in front of a sellout crowd of 17,113 at Bridgestone Arena. The Predators had many breakaway or partial breakaway opportunities throughout the game, but only Neal’s breakaway was able to beat Cam Ward, who made 25 saves on 27 shots on goal.
