The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that they team has acquired defenseman Kyle Wood from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for restricted free agent defenseman Trevor Carrick.
Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell released the following statement with the news:
“Kyle is a big, puck-moving defenseman. He’s a couple years younger than Trevor, and will have time to continue to develop on Charlotte’s blueline. We thank Trevor for his contributions to our organization and wish him the best in San Jose.”
Wood, 23, was a third-round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2014 NHL Draft and has since played for the AHL affiliates of the Arizona Coyotes and the San Jose Sharks.
