The Hurricanes have signed Sault Ste. Marie defenseman and 2013 sixth-round pick to an entry-level contract. In other news, Hurricanes sideline reporter Chantel McCabe will not be back with the team next year.
Defenseman Tyler Ganly, 20, was signed by the Carolina Hurricanes Monday on the deadline for teams to sign 2013 junior draft picks. A sixth-round pick that year, Ganly has played three seasons with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League and was the 156th overall pick. Brent Pedersen, who was taken in the fifth round by Carolina that year and just won a Memorial Cup with the Oshawa Generals, seems unlikely to be signed and would be able to re-enter the 2015 draft.
