Hurricanes Sign Trevor Carrick to One-Year Extension

The Carolina Hurricanes made their first in-house RFA signing on Tuesday, signing defenseman Trevor Carrick to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

Carrick, who turns 24 this summer, finished sixth among AHL defensemen in points last season (44 points in 73 games). In eight playoff games with the Checkers, he had four assists. He also served as one of Charlotte’s alternate captains for a second consecutive season.

The chippy left-shot defensemen was among the final cuts from Carolina’s training camp roster a season ago but saw action early in the season after Trevor van Riemsdyk suffered a concussion.
