Hurricanes sign Brian Gibbons to one-year, two-way contract

What better way could the Carolina Hurricanes celebrate Independence Day than by signing a player who has been both an Eagle and a Senator?

The Hurricanes announced Wednesday that they have signed center Brian Gibbons to a one-year contract that will pay him $725,000 in the NHL or $100,000 in the AHL, with a guarantee of $225,000. Gibbons, who spend the 2018-19 season split between the Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators, will serve as a functional replacement for Greg McKegg, who signed with the New York Rangers on the first day of free agency.
