Hurricanes Recall Alex Nedeljkovic From Charlotte; Reassign Michael Leighton to Checkers

The Carolina Hurricanes announced this evening the recall of goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic and the reassigning of goaltender Michael Leighton to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. This is the first NHL call up for Nedeljkovic.

The 2014 second-round pick (37th overall) and Parma, OH native is in his first professional season splitting time between the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers and the ECHL’s Florida Everblades. With Charlotte, Nedeljkovic has a 5-12-0 record, with a 3.30 goals-against average and an .884 save percentage in 18 appearances. See the official release from the team below:

Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic (nuh-DEHL-koh-vihch) from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
