One of the greatest names in hockey is sticking around. The Hurricanes have signed forward Greg McKegg to a one-year, two-way deal worth $715,000, as first reported by Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
The minor-league forward was acquired at the NHL trade deadline from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Josh Jooris. McKegg performed well down the Charlotte Checkers, playing in 19 games and recording 23 points (9 goals, 14 assists). He was drafted in the third round in 2010 by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
