The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed forward Ty Rattie on waivers from the St. Louis Blues, the team announced this afternoon. Rattie has competed in 30 career NHL games with the Blues, with four of those coming this season. The 23 year old forward and native of Airdrie, Alberta, averaged 7:20 of ice time during those four NHL appearances this season, while tallying one assist in three games with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
Rattie has spent most of this season as a healthy scratch, finding himself the odd man out in a similar situation to the one the Hurricanes have had to manage with their blue line this year.
