The Carolina Hurricanes announced Sunday that they have acquired veteran goaltender James Reimer from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 6th round pick and goaltender Scott Darling. The Hurricanes did not retain salary on Darling’s contract in the trade.
Reimer has appeared in 338 games in his NHL career and was once the starting netminder for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Reimer has been in a back-up role in Florida behind goaltender Roberto Luongo who recently announced his retirement from the NHL.
Reimer was 13-12-5 last season with Florida, finishing with a 3.
