The Carolina Hurricanes got back to their home game and started out on fire as they defeated the New York Rangers, 7-3 at the Lenovo Center Saturday afternoon.
The Canes jumped out to a 4-0 lead and while things probably got a bit too close in the third, held on for the win.
The loss eliminated the Rangers from the playoffs this postseason.
It was also the first time the Hurricanes were able to sweep a season series from the Rangers since the 80’s, when they were known as the Whalers.
Jalen Chatfield got things started with a blast from the point about midway through the first period.
