The good news is that the Carolina Hurricanes did not allow a goal late in a period against the Rangers like they have done the past couple of games. The bad news is that they allowed one just 17 seconds into the game.
The Canes were able to overcome the early deficit though and defeated the New York Rangers, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
Pyotr Kochetkov had an exceptional game between the pipes and made 22 saves on 23 shots. The goalie also picked up two assists which tied the most in a game for a goalie in franchise history.
