The Carolina Hurricanes had trouble getting their powerplay going and only had 10 shots on goal after two periods, but got a huge game from goalie Cam Ward and went on to defeat the Colorado Avalanche, 1-0 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center.
It was the first win at the Pepsi Center in franchise history for the Hurricanes.
Ward made several key saves down the stretch to earn his first shutout of the season, including a breakaway by Jarome Iginla. He also made a stick save on an open net against Matt Duchene which will make many highlight reels.
