The Carolina Hurricanes will select fifth in the first round of tonight’s NHL draft, but who they select could be as much about what the teams in front of them do as who they have at the top of their list.

1. Edmonton Oilers: For the fourth time in six years the Oilers get first dibs on the crop of draft eligible prospects. This one’s as easy as can be: they take phenom Connor McDavid.
