Just like the big club, the Charlotte Checkers have advanced to the second round of the playoffs. The Checkers avoided the fate of the Tampa Bay Lightning and backed up their AHL-best regular season with a dominant first round series.
After the series left Providence tied at one apiece, the Checkers returned home to play the remaining three games but instead wrapped it up in two. The team quickly established a home-ice presence with a 3-0 win in Game 3. Providence struggled to get shots on net in the first while the Checkers fired from all angles.
