Carolina Hurricanes: What to Expect from Rookie Defenseman Jaccob Slavin

After a great showing in rookie camp, the Traverse City Tournament, and NHL training camp, Carolina Hurricanes rookie Jaccob Slavin was not a part of the opening night NHL roster, but just a month and a half later, he is getting a shot.

The Canes called up the 21-year-old blue liner on Wednesday following a great start to the 2015-2016 season with the Charlotte Checkers, tallying 7 assists in 14 games while maintaining a +6 rating.

The best part of Slavin’s game so far has been reliability and consistency. The American youngster has been able to show an unprecedented level of skill, and his transition to the professional hockey ranks has gone extremely smoothly.
