One team’s quest for the Metropolitan division title begins on Oct. 7 at PNC Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes vs. Minnesota Wild is the first game of the 2017-18 NHL season in Raleigh, NC. Minnesota lost their first contest of the season, against the Detroit Red Wings, on the road 4-2.
Carolina is trying to make the NHL Playoffs for the first time since 2009 as they’re currently experience the longest drought of any team in hockey at eight seasons. Meanwhile, the Wild finished second in the Western Conference last season, only behind the Chicago Blackhawks.
If the Canes can get off to a fast start, it would a long way toward handing the Wild their second loss of the year.
