There’s some direction from the very top of the Carolina Hurricanes now, with the sale of the team to new majority owner Tom Dundon being announced this week. Long-time owner Peter Karmanos Jr. will always be an icon with the organization, but fresh ownership for the team is a welcome sight.
Carolina holds a wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference, after the Jan. 11 win over the Washington Capitals. Rarely have the Canes been in playoff position this early in a season, since the 2008-09 campaign. That playoff push combined with the news of the majority ownership under Dundon should be enough to power this team under new direction.
