After some fortunate support from the Washington Capitals defeating the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 and the Carolina Hurricanes defeating the New Jersey Devils 3-1 two nights ago, the Hurricanes are making their first playoff appearance since the 2008-09 season. So, what’s next?
The Hurricanes play the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday and hope for the Columbus Blue Jackets to lose to the bottom of the league, Ottawa Senators and for the New York Rangers who are coming from a back-to-back to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins in regulation.
That is a lot to ask for. If Pittsburgh loses in regulation and the Carolina Hurricanes who have a ROW advantage over the Penguins, defeat the Flyers, they will reclaim and clinch the third spot in the Metropolitan Division.
