Carolina Hurricanes: Thoughts on the signing of goaltender Petr Mrazek

Do you get it already? He’s a goaltender. On Sunday, The Carolina Hurricanes chose not to heed any of my suggestions and wound up signing Petr Mrazek for 1 year at $1.5 million. The Hurricanes will be the Czech netminder’s 3rd team of 2018.

In a combined 39 games this season, Mrazek finished with an underwhelming .896 save % and a very underwhelming .891 in his 17 games with the Flyers. He is likely intended to replace Cam Ward as the backup, who signed with the Chicago Blackhawks. What the Hurricanes intend to do with Scott Darling remains to be seen.
