I suppose it’s time that we petition Carolina Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell to legally change his surname to Waddellinen.
Tuesday saw the addition of another Finn to the Hurricanes’ system with the acquisition of 24-year-old Oliwer Kaski. The undrafted defenseman, fresh off bringing home the gold with Team Finland at the 2019 IIHF World Championship, signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings this past May.
After playing in 32 games with the Western Michigan University Broncos (becoming the first Finnish-born player in the history of the program), Kaski turned pro with HIFK of the Liiga.
