The Hurricanes announced today that the team has agreed to a two-year contract extension with forward Brock McGinn. The contract will pay McGinn $875,000 in the 2017-2018 season, followed by a small increase to $900,000 for 2018-2019.
McGinn played 57 games last season, racking up 16 points (7 G, 9 A) and posting a plus-minus of -11. He’s been on the Hurricanes roster since 2015, playing 78 games in the two-year span.
Carolina issued a qualifying offer to McGinn and two others on Monday before the 5:00 p.m. deadline. McGinn will again be a restricted free agent, this time with arbitration rights, in the 2019 offseason.
