Much has been written about the Edmonton Oilers uncanny ability to get the first overall pick in the NHL draft year in and year out. This has been good for their roster, but it has had its downside. Not only have they had to spend a lot of money to keep them, they have spent all of those top picks on forwards, selecting Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Nail Yakupov, and Connor McDavid.
This has left a major hole on the Edmonton blueline. Their top defenseman is Andrej Sekera, who is familiar to many Caniacs, but outside of that things are not looking good.
