The Carolina Hurricanes left Raleigh on Tuesday headed for Denver to start the second part of their State Fair road trip. Upon landing in Colorado, the team announced that they have recalled defenseman Rasmus Rissanen from the AHL Charlotte Checkers to join them on their five-game road swing.
Rissanen earns his second career callup and his first this year, and takes the place of Brett Pesce on the Canes' roster after Pesce was a healthy scratch for last week's games against the Red Wings and Capitals. Rissanen was sent to Charlotte in the first set of training camp cuts in late September, and cleared waivers at that time.
