Raleigh Center Ice, formerly known as RecZone has serves as the training center for the Carolina Hurricanes. The facility was sold for $2.9 million to Raleigh native Jeff Ammonds. Ammonds has promised immediate upgrades to the facility to improve the venue for the Hurricanes.
Due to low attendance, the Carolina Hurricanes have been in the middle of relocation rumors for the past couple of years and as recently last month. At first look this seems like more volatility in the Carolina hockey market, but the team and franchise can benefit from the sale and upgrade of the facility.
