Nordstrom, was a 2010 draftee of the Chicago Blackhawks, and was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes last season. He was in the multi player deal that brought over Kris Versteeg.
Now in his third pro season in North America, he has secured a lower line roster spot with the Carolina Hurricanes.
While his offensive game will never compare to some of the other top young prospects out of Sweden, his size and two-way play make him valuable in a lower line role.
2008-09: Joakim Nordstrom appeared in four Super Elit games as a 16-year-old with Stockholm-based AIK’s U20 team and played 42 games (including playoffs) with AIK at the U18 Elit and Allsvenskan levels.
