In the past few weeks, the co-captain defenseman for the Carolina Hurricanes Justin Faulk missed a decent amount of time due to injury. Faulk returned for the back-to-back games to round out the March slate, coming against the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals.
However, Faulk was again out of the lineup on April 2, as the Canes faced the Florida Panthers on the road. The place where the Canes obviously missed Faulk the most is on the power play. Noah Hanifin and Faulk are the two best offensive defensemen on the roster.
Hanifin is not as used to playing on the first power play unit as Faulk is.
