The Carolina Hurricanes were the first team to make a move on day two of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft when they sent a 2020 sixth round draft pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Patrick Marleau and a 2020 conditional first round draft selection. The 21 year vet spent a majority of his career with the San Jose Sharks before signing a three year deal with the Leafs in 2017.
This deal was one that had to happen for the Leafs to give them any chance of signing their pending RFAs to new deals.
