Carolina Hurricanes Defenseman Noah Hanifin Gets First NHL Point (Video)

Carolina Hurricanes 2015 5th overall draft pick Noah Hanifin tallied his first point in the National Hockey League on Saturday night with an assist on Victor Rask‘s second period goal against the Detroit Red Wings.

Hanifin skated in his first NHL game on Thursday against the Nashville Predators in the team’s 2-1 loss on opening night.

The young blue liner was the top ranked defenseman in the 2015 NHL draft, and he is the third-youngest player in the league this season.

Only 13 defensemen have ever played in the NHL right after their draft year, and Carolina Hurricanes’ Noah Hanifin is among that elite group of names.
