On Saturday, the Carolina Hurricanes cut five more players from their 2015 training camp roster, bringing their roster down to 22 players.
Forwards Brock McGinn and Derek Ryan and defensemen Brett Pesce and Jaccob Slavin have been assigned to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. 19-year-old defenseman Haydn Fleury has been assigned to the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League, which means he is not eligible to play in the NHL or AHL this season.
Brock McGinn is entering year two of his professional hockey career, and it appears that he still isn’t quite ready to make an impact at the NHL level, although he did have the best training camp and preseason of his career thus far.
